personality,
it's a gossip girl thing.
I wish I could give you Adeline “in a nutshell”, but the closest thing I can give you is a name: Serena van der Woodsen from Gossipgirl. She is Adeline, in more ways than one, she’s both wild and spontaneous, bitchy and demanding, poised and pretty, and she can turn a head when she walks into a room. But like Serena she is okay not being “Queen B”, or in Addie’s case “Queen D”. She’s okay being the best friend to the social monarch. For now at least. Because like Serena, Adeline is completely unpredictable, and although she has a good heart, her head isn’t always thinking clearly. And at this twisted play on Hogwarts, it’s a lethal combination
oh, what a tangled web you weave.
Adeline was brought up in the world of swirling dresses and fake smiles. Is it really any surprise that this is who she has become? She is poised, at all times, calm, and fair, level headed with perfected manners and the ability to dance any of your basic ballroom steps. It’s her society face. She’ll migrate around a room with ease and precision, talking to who she needs to, keeping tabs on people in her head, making sure to dance just enough, and vary her company. But it’s such a clever façade, this ability to put on faces. She can become anyone she wants to. She will morph and change at the moment, put anything she feels away in a zip lock bag and close it. And from this you will quickly see how adept Adeline is at lying and manipulating. She can manipulate to get her way, manipulate to get you out of her way, or manipulate because she thinks it’s fun. And the real problem is that she’s intelligent. And that’s her deadliest weapon. It’s the society curse.
there's beauty in the breakdown.
Though Adeline can be a big bitch, she’s actually quite good hearted underneath it all. She would never do something to deliberately really hurt someone. And to her best friends, she’s your typical teenage girl, she’s real, she’s a bit rough and raw around the edges, but she’s honest and spontaneous. Though she’s not really much for goofing off or anything, she’s sweet and doesn’t hesitate to be kind or offer a helping hand. But in order to see that side of her you have to get close to her, really close. Most of the guys she “gets with” she doesn’t even let in fully. Only her closest friends get that she can be very sweet 24/7 if she really wants to. Even more than that. It’s the reward for getting close to Addie, because that is a near impossible task in itself.
good heart, crappy judgement.
Adeline has good motives, but she has poor judgement. She finds it too easy to party, too easy to give into what she wants, rather than what is “right”. Call it messed up morals, call it whatever you want, but there is no avoiding it. Adeline does what she wants, when she wants, and, much like her brother, really only answers to herself. She’s loyal to her friends, but she’s more loyal to her own impulses. I suppose you could say she’s somewhat one-track minded. And this “poor judgement” is really what gets her into so much trouble in the first place. She likes to have fun too much. That’s the hard part about Adeline, you think you know her like the back of your hand and then she does something that catches you completely off guard and reminds you just how little you know about the girl. Because you will never fully get to know Adeline. Try as hard as you will, but there is only one girl who can claim they know her through and through: and that’s June.
yeah, okay, she's a bitch too.
Okay, we’ll admit it, Adeline isn’t the nicest girl in the room. She has good motives and all, but she can be the biggest bitch you’ve ever met. She can insult better than most kids her age, and she’s witty too. She’s got a dry sense of humor and puts that to good use as well. Piss her off and you will regret it, she’ll make sure of that. You see, Adeline is one of the most intense people you will ever meet. She just keeps going and going, and it’s all tied together with a smile. That’s the real problem, she’ll insult you without you even knowing it. She’s so poised she can be a bitch without telling anyone, and that’s how it goes unnoticed.
when it's time to party we will party hard.
Adeline’s one of the biggest partiers at Hogwarts, if not the biggest. She throws them, goes to them, knows about them. She’s probably one of the most socially savvy girls at school. Ask her what’s going on and she’ll give you a list of at least ten “can’t miss” events. No one really knows how she gets this information, just that she happens to know what’s going down. She likes to have a good time, and usually uses it as a form of escapism. To run away from problems. She’ll party harder, drink more, and go farther when she’s upset or wants to get away from something. She’ll use partying as her mask, because when she’s partying she forgets. But more often than not, she’s just out to have a good time. She’s daring, and she loves attention so she’ll do crazy things without a second thought, not really caring if it ends up on gossipgirl the next morning. Because secretly, Adeline sorta likes being on gossipgirl. And what girl wouldn’t? Instant celeb status would appeal to any sixteen year old girl.
she’s got me lovestoned and i think that she knows.
So what really makes Adeline so damn conceited? The fact that she knows. She knows guys want her. She knows why people stare when she enters the room in all her angelic looking glory. She practically breathes confidence, and no matter how insecure she is on the inside, she has enough ego to make up for it. She knows what’s in style, she knows she’s got money, she knows she’s thin and pretty. And that’s her real flaw, this knowledge of good and evil. Because it all comes with a cost, and she’s not ready to face that quite yet. For now she’d rather hide from the truth while painting her pretty lies.

boggart, adeline's boggart would probably be a bunch of giant nasty bugs, (like in King Kong, ewwww) from slugs to grasshoppers and beatles, and worst of all, spiders. she has never liked bugs, nor ever will, except perhaps the exception of butterflies, lady bugs, and dragon flies. the rest, in her opinion are not only gross, but rather frightening. especially spiders. definitely big spiders.
amortenia, adeline's custom love potion has top notes of freshly cut freesia, miss cherie dior eu de toilette, and a rich undertone of something definitely masculine and woodsy, deep oak, a ginger musk, and rain.
erised, what could adeline possibly want? the beautiful girl who lives in her beautiful, comfortable world. as cheesy as it is, addie would probably see herself on a white horse, in a beautiful dress, being lead by her own person white knight, fairytale fashion. she'd love to fall in love the way it's written in books, that perfect innocence and intensity all at the same time.
dementor evoked memory, adeline's dementor moments pale in comparison to most, as she's had a very good, and fairly lucky, life. when she was eight, she had gotten lost in the backwoods behind her house, and had wandered for a few hours, quite hysterically, before her father found her. she'd thought for sure that she was going to be lost forever and die there, as any eight year old would.
the fight for perfection is never ending, still you refuse to give up, refuse to give in
hair, very blonde eyes, blue and gray portrayed by, mischa barton
distinguishing features, her long, thick pale blonde her has long set her apart from the crowd. she's also quite tall for a girl, her legs being the cause for that. her face is scattered with freckles, as are her shoulders and arms. on her lower back she has the dimples that some girls get, just above where the hem of her jeans hits, and they are easily visible if her shirt comes up. other than that, no cool scars or birthmarks.
looks are everything , Unlike her “tall, dark, and handsome” brother, Adeline inherited the classic Kensington looks—blonde hair, a naturally haughty expression, and tottering height. And that, combined with her mother’s fair beauty, she’s become an ethereal thing, a striking contrast to her best friend Dani’s darker, more exotic looks. She could probably model if she wanted to, but has never really shown interest or enough dedication to pursue it. She’s more of the kind of girl that turns heads when she walks into a room, and is happy enough with that. The only problem is that she knows her effect on people, and she uses it to it’s full extent.
Adeline is tall for a female at 5’7’’, and uses that to it’s full extent: be noticed anywhere. She’s built more like a model, thin, with little muscle or fat. She’s not gawky at all though, she’s got that natural graceful air of being raised as a debutante, the air that makes you love her and hate her with equal passion. Her torso it’s long, and her legs are even longer, making up for most of her height and then some. She has tiny shoulders and faint curves, but she’s not really all that curvy, more straight along her waist and hips, but it’s never stopped her much. Being of model proportions just allows her to get away with more as far as fashion goes, from micro mini dresses to odd shaped trapeze coats, everything manages to look good on her because of her shape.
It must run in the Kensington family, because Addie just seems to photosythesize her food like her brother. Not that she doesn’t eat. It’s just that she eats only at the three designated times a day, and even then it’s not much. This is probably the only real indication that she may not be as naturally thin as she comes off as. Starvation techniques could, in fact, be mildly used, but used all the same. And there are enough rumors floating around to back it all up. Not that Adeline is opposed to the whole pig out in your dorm room while giggling about whatever went on that day. She’ll eat if she’s out socializing. But she’ll probably beat herself up about it later. The girl has pressure on her from all sides to look flawless. It’s what’s expected of her, so she feels that she has to keep it up, no matter how often she has to keep her stomach from grumbling during a potions exam.
Adeline’s hair is her crowing glory. The color of a soft, shiny, platinum blonde, the yellow waterfall hangs down in natural, loose waves that hit her mid-lower back. She rarely does much too it, usually just rolling out of bed and giving it a good shake is enough. It behaves pretty well, and she was blessed with no maintenance hair. However, on occasion, she goes all out with the straightening or curling of whatever, and it manages to be even shiner than before, almost to the point of being obnoxious. Like “hey, look at me! My hair is healthier than yours!” It’s currently cut with long, face framing layers and long, chin length side bangs, though she doesn’t always style it as it’s been cut, she tends to wear the part different a lot. Her hair is probably her favorite feature, and the one that she knows is probably her best, which only lends more to the obnoxious nature of her being.
Adeline’s eyes aren’t tragic or poetic like her brothers. They are a clear, blue-gray, more blue than anything else, the color of a crisp, clear sky on a cold morning, not the rich blue of noon or the pale blue of an indian summer. Definitely more cold morning. And cold they usually are. Adeline’s eyes are usually complete barriers to anything behind them, closed off completely to the outside world, save for around her closest friends. But, for the most part, they are extremely dismissive, exaggerating her haughty features and not making her the most approachable character in a room.
Adeline’s skin isn’t half as pale as her brother’s, being the golden girl of the family, quite literally. She spends her summers stretched out on beaches in Italy or Milan, or, on rarer occasions, at home in France, and tans far more easily than her brother. She’s not dark, by any means, but for being a naturally fair anglo-saxon, she gets a nice glow. As far as skin goes, Addie’s is smooth, a few minor bumps and imperfections here and there, she’s not perfect after all, but other than that is pretty clear. She doesn’t glow like most girls. She has freckles on her cheeks and shoulders, more prominently so on her shoulders and along her collar bone.
Adeline’s body language is limited to a stranger or anyone in passing, squared shoulders and a mild pace, eyes piercing and lips pulled into a secretly amused smirk. Of course, she’s probably thinking how ugly your skirt is. Or how much better she is than you. She’s not one to keep people guessing. She might not be jumping around like a school girl, but she’s not secretive either. She’ll show her emotions through her face rather than her entire body—it takes too much energy to do that. She can flirt with only her eyes, or with a mere flick of her hips. She knows the absolute minimum needed to do anything, and that’s all the energy she exerts. Like her brother, her outward expressions are not always accurate. She can fake any emotion, any mood, any movement with frightening ease, and never have you even so much as guess the faulty lack of truth. She’ll sell it, and make you wholeheartedly believe it. Something that is just as lethal as it is beneficial.
Addie’s clothing selection is ridiculous. She has all sorts of international labels, though is more frequently found in Chanel and other brands from her homeland. Larok is her absolute favorite, from their studded minis to their funky dresses. She also likes Mint by Jodi Arnold, Opening Ceremony, Free City, and Diesel. She’s a high end girl, and likes one-off boutiques chock full of little known designers because no one else ever has the same clothes. She’s very fashion savvy, but has never really been into design or anything. She’s more of a shopper, just like every other teenager girl.
Adeline is a girly-girl, a sort of low-maintenance, high maintenance mix of both worlds. She’s your regular back seat debutante, and has no desire to let you forget that, from her carefree, ethereal, beauty to her sudden turns of viciousness. But there’s a lot more behind the front, it’s just a shield, you have to push beyond it.
walking through a room, all the heads turn but all they whisper is poison
family members,
Ryder William Kensington, Time is waiting. we only got 4 minutes to save the world. No hesitating: grab a boy, grab a girl
profile, CLICK HERE relation, brother age, 18 hogwarts, slytherin 7th year portrayed by, gaspard ulliel relationship, Ryder and Adeline have an extremely odd relationship, to say the least. Love-Hate might be an appropraite term, but it's a bit more love than hate. Adeline thinks her big brother is wayyyyy over rated, but she also looks up to him. He's pretty much set her up to rule the school, going from "Oh, you're Ry's little sister" to "Adeline Kensington." Of course, she is well aware that he doesn't exactly like what she does in her free time, but hey, he's just as annoying. She thinks he's a bit hypocritical, saying she can't have boys over when she knows that there's usually a half clothed girl in his room. But, even so, she understands to some extent. He really cares about her, and she's estatic to be living with him in Oxford, since he's basically offering her complete freedom as long as she doesn't abuse it.
Edward Chase Kensington, political tyranny is nothing compared to the social tyranny and a reformer who defies society is a more courageous man than a politician who defies government
relation, father age, 47 occupation, member of the senate portrayed by, gerard butler relationship, An affluent wizard who grew up in the high society of France, his family in possession of old money from years of politics, Mr. Kensington is very much the wealthy working type. But he's always made time for his little princess Adeline. Addie has always loved her father dearly, but somewhat blindly. He's given her almost everything she's ever wanted, but she usually failed to see his absence, as she was so independent she was usually gone too. Unlike Ryder she would actively seek out her father in the times he was home and as a child sit with him while he worked, sometimes helping him do menial tasks. They are extremely close, a bond which no one but her and her father really seems to understand. But she's okay with that. It's something she's never really questioned, and understands that it's not perfect. But it's theirs. And to her that's all that counts.
Marie Lilian Kensington, To converse with Scandal is to play at Losing Loadum, you must lose a good name to him, before you can win it for yourself
relation, mother age, 41 occupation, stay at home mother, support system portrayed by, diane kruger relationship, Adeline and her mother have always had a love-hate relationship that makes her's and Ryder's pale in comparison. Mainly because Adeline is the spitting image of her mother. And has an extremely similar temperment. Like Adeline, her mother wasn't any debutante. She was a former French fashion IT girl and model, as notorious as they come. She cleaned up and grew up, and Ryder and her have always been extremely close, but Adeline and Marie had the typical mother daughter relationship. Marie is always criticizing Addie about something or other, weight, hair, clothes, always grooming her to perfection. This is probably why Addie is so quick to rebel. She doesn't care what her mother thinks. To be honest, her mother infuriates her more than anyone else on the planet. But all in all she still loves her, and always will.
Hunter Aiden Devereux, You think to much about beeing cool. If you'd just shut the hell up once in while, stop thinking maybe you'd actually achieve my level of amazingness
Adeline loves Hunter to death and back. He's like a giant bear now. Well, not so much when they were younger. He and Ryder were always doing awesome things like archery and building tree houses and not once was she ever allowed. But she's growing to love the oaf, and he's usually her saving grace. She tags along with him to fashion shows and shoots, and he is usually the one who will take her out to clubs and let her party, as long as she stays under her supervision. Of course, Ryder hasn't totally figured it out yet. Not the brightest crayon in the box, now is he? Still, Hunter is like the best friend/big brother Ryder is too stuck up to be. And Addie is forever admiring Hunter's amazing capacity for coolness. The fact that he walks into a room and everyone in it knows him. And that he dresses like a rockstar. He's just the super cool cousin she can't get enough of (in a totally non-sexual, fun friend sort of way).
detailed history,
His mother was his age when they met. She was eighteen, young, wild, and untouchable. He was twenty-four, something their parents through was utterly inappropriate. But Marie, used to the attention, cared less. But something happened along the way. Something completely unexpected. Something that wasn’t suppose to happen to the girl. She fell in love. And quite hard. With someone who was so far out of her league it was ridiculous. Edward was the perfect son of the perfect Kensington bloodline, never a fault or a misstep. No wild parties, no long nights. He was voted “most likely to become prime minister”, for crying out loud. And here she was, fallen in love with him.
Well apparently the boy had a wild side, because soon enough, after they’d dated for a little over a year, she found herself no longer Marie Rosseau, but Marie Kensington. And another year later she gave birth to a boy named Ryder William Kensington, Adeline's brother. Another year after that and she was pregnant with Adeline, who was born in the dead of winter in a hospital in Paris. Adeine's birth was much less action packed than Ryder's, she came out without complications, without a scene. As a baby she was very inqusitive but not very active, preffering to sit and watch movies or be read to. Being the youngest, and a girl on top of that, she was naturally catered to obsessively by both her parents, and had a very happy early childhood. She quickly grew attatched to her father, following him around, always fastinated with him in the way all little girls are with their fathers. She was the princess of the castle, and if you looked from any old photos you'd see her mountains of little dresses and polished shoes, a baby straight out of a J.Crew catalogue, especially on the backdrop of the huge, secluded estate.
As a young child Adeline quickly learned to entertain herself. While Ryder was off at school she had little companionship, though even when he was home he and Hunter were usually off doing something or other, leaving her to play alone. She quickly developed a massive imagination, and when she wasn't upstairs playing in her tower wth her toys, she was off riding her pony or helping her mother do domestic chores. Those were happy times, she was a very optimistic child, full of energy and naivity. She did well at her private elementary school, popular among the children but not overly so, she had her close friends like any child would.
Once Ryder got his letter to Hogwarts, Adeline patiently waited for hers to come. She knew it was coming, the magic in her bloodline was too deep to be a squib. Plus, she refused to be left behind. And, sure enough, a year later she was off to Hogwarts as well. Her first year was uneventful for the most part, aside from making quick friends with June and Daniela. They were all so innocent then, so unaware of the upperclassmen, so uncaring. They had no drama, and all go along in the way that only kids can. And then life happened.
By Adeline's third year she was no longer just Adeline. Her brother had become a smashing quidditch star, and she quickly became "Ryder's little sister", being recognized by half the student population. She was being invited to parties, and talked to by the older kids. She was starting to grow up, especially physically. She was no longer a kid, suddenly she found she could command boys around, she began to figure out the art of manipulation. A year later and Adeline was sick of being "Ryder's Little Sister" and quickly took to making a name for herself in whatever way she could. She became the precendent for the Adeline that exists today. She always pulled crazy stunts, partied like a rockstar, and, alongside Daniela, climbed to the top of the social ladder (at least as far as a fourth year can, anyway). Makeup and hair styling and magic all became essential, as did learning the art of seduction. She wasn't just an innocent nobody anymore. And she craved it all more-to be pretty and popular and to fit into this ideal world. Her mother didn't help. As Adeline began to grow into a young woman, her mother, who'd been her best friend when she was younger, suddenly seemed to be just as screwed up as Adeline herself. Her mother would constantly fix her up, comment on what she was eating or wearing. And inside, Adeline became insecure, desperate to please her mother. She'd stop eating, she'd do her hair different, she'd exercise until she thought she would puke. Because the hard parts of growing up started to settle in.
Fifth year for Adeline was smooth, by now she and Daniela had made history: the youngest girl's to have this much control over the school in a very, very long time. Adeline gracefully accepted the insta-popularity of her beautiful bestie Daniela and the fact that she would never be quite that, happy to run the social scene from her side. And, with all this hanging out with Daniela it came as no surprise when Adeline ended up dating her brother Jacob for a short while, ending on good terms, breaking up only because they worked better as friends. She and Ryder had become very close now as well, watching out for one another. Hunter had become a closer companion than even Ryder, and Adeline found comfort in his good advice and lack of self-obsession that Ryder seemed so full of.
Between the parties and keeping up her grades, Adeline's sixth year seemed pretty set socially, but she really has no idea what will happen. After all, this is life. What's the fun in planning it out when all your plans go astray anyway?
