The study hall had been transformed by Jake to be used as the headquarters for the club he was instructed to start up. In addition to his guarding duties the Minister and the Headmistress gave him the task of setting up a club to instruct any who wanted to learn how to duel. After a great deal of thought, and a bit more research into the history of Hogwarts, he gave his answer: he would do it, but he would do it in his own way. And so he spent the last bit of the summer holidays putting the finishing touches on his plans and lessons. Now here he stood in the classroom he furnished for for his club.
He stood on a platform at the far end of the room opposite the door. Behind him in the center of the wall was a large picture of Jake in flowing crimson robes, his hands resting on the hilt of a longsword in a black sheath with a black grip on the silver hilt. Shadow lay coiled around the tip of the sword at Jake's feet. On either side of the picture were two windows that gave a great veiw of the lake. Behind Jake was a large cushioned throne-like chair. The room was otherwise unfurnished but for six other small pictures, three on the left and right wall.
On the left wall coming in the first picture was of two asian men engaged in martial arts. The second was two knights in full armor sword fighting. The third was of a gang of cowboys gunfighting with bandits. On the right wall coming in the first was of a jewish man fighting the inquistion. The second was of two old men in a park playing a game of chess on a stone chess table. The third was a picture of the legendary magical duel of Grendalwald and Dumbledore.
Jake himself was dress in his usual steel-toed boots, a pair of black fatiques, a grey and black flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and his black hair pulled pack into a ponytail bound with grey cloth. His duster and cowboy hat were resting on the chair behind him. His arms were clasped behind his back and his feet were planted firmly. Shadow sat at his fight, tail wrapped around her body. Both of them were watching the door expectantly.
"So, figure anyone will actually show?"
Shadow gave a quick meow.
"Five knuts says your wrong."
She gave another short meow and nodded. Jake nodded back and the two returned to watching the door.

Helena had seen the bulletin for the defense association class being held by one of the aurors sent to keep Hogwarts safe from outside threats. Finding that she had nothing better to do, besides homework and studying, which she didn't do in the first place, Helena decided that it was time for Mr. Jacob Harrison to meet one third of the school's inside threat. Most any disaster was either caused by her or a combination of herself, Fred Weasley or Ryder Kensington. All they needed was a Ravenclaw to have the "entire school" in on the mischief.
Twirling her wand over and around her fingers, Helena made her way to the designated empty classroom and waltzed right in, not bothering to check and see if this was actually where she was supposed to be. Details like that really didn't matter. If this was the wrong classroom, she'd just find something else to do. But there he was with his little furry sidekick. She still had yet to figure out what the deal was between those two. But it was certainly strange.
"I take it this is where I'm supposed to be for the whatsit club?" Oh yeah, she wasn't killing time at all. But she was actually interested in learning some stuff from the guy. Like how better to take down the guys in her house who razzed her. Which only happened after games most of the time. But still, it would be nice to get the upper hand for once instead of being slung around, even if none of it was serious fighting.

"This is the defense club or something, right?" a voice called softly from the doorway, her words reverberating slightly around the large room. Kalista Chang was obviously attempting to make sure she was in the right place. Had she known that Jake was the one in charge, the obvious sign that this was the place would be the American man and his cat. But word of mouth sometimes had the unfortunate factor of leaving out such valuable information. The Oriental girl decided to just stand there and wait for an answer. The last thing she wanted was to get in the middle of something she didn't need to be involved in. At least with the defense association Kali knew she would be learning useful things, which would be a welcome distraction to her present state of mind.
Ever since the end of the summer, the Ravenclaw girl had been in a dreadful state of melancholy. Wandering around without makeup, in clothes that she wore the previous year, her face devoid of any positive emotions. It was a very uncharacteristic thing for her to do considering she was usually always smiling, wearing the newest and most popular fashions, and looking flawless with the least amount of make-up possible. Kali had gone from thinking she was one of the best girls in the school to believing that she was worth virtually nothing. After word of Westly and Rose's relationship was made public, the girl had just gone downhill.
She waited patiently in the doorway, her arms folded semi-protectively over her chest where she clutched a rather thin book compared the the ones she usually read. Her eyes wandered around the walls of the room, admiring the pictures that she was able to see. This seemed like the right place to be, but Kalista knew now from experience that just because things seemed one way it didn't mean they were certain to stay that way.

"Hey." a male voice bellowed to no one as he walked past Kalista who was standing in the doorway. He thought he had been running a little late since his prefect duties had taken a little longer than expected due to a first year defacing a suit of armor that in turn proceeded to pin the poor boy up against the wall. Seeing that there were only two other people in the room, it seemed that Jacob had been wrong about being late. As much as he hated punctuality, it was painfully obvious that he was one of the first to arrive.
He was here because he felt as though he owed it to Jake. Not that the older man needed any favors, he seemed pretty set in his ways already. No, the American had done Jacob and Riley quite a favor in allowing them to stay with him during the summer. True, they were put to work a lot of the time, but it had really meant a lot to the boy that someone actually cared after their father's passing. And though he would never admit it thanks to his stubborn nature, the Ravelli twin was grateful to him.
The blonde walked over to the wall and leaned against it, sliding down to sit on the floor. He bent his legs up, resting his arms comfortably on his knees. Jacob's icy grey stare penetrated the rest of the room, examing each picture carefully. Well, the decorations seemed interesting, and from spending a good amount of his summer staying with Jake himself, Jacob knew that the group was in for something good. Even if this proved to be boring, at least there were pretty girls to look at. Jacob looked to Helena and Kalista, a small smirk crossing his lips. Ah male hormones-- can't live with them, can't resist the urge to admire anything with long hair and a pair of nice legs.
Tonight was going to prove to be interesting, no matter how the actual lesson turned out.

Jake looked around at the few kids to show up first. He gave each one a good look over, getting a feel for how well they would do in his lessons. Of course he wasn't planning anything to extreme quite yet, but he wasn't going to be babying anyone anytime soon. He was going to be expecting a lot from Jacob if nothing else. The kid had been staying with him over the summer, and he knew he could do some work. He was also a prefect, and so he was going to be counted on to set an example. The Helena looked promising enough, and Kalista looked a bit down, but Ravenclaws had a reputation for being smart and excelling well.
"Yes ladies, your in the right place."
He then whispered so that Shadow could hear.
"And now I owe ya five knuts."
He returned to looking at the small group.
"If ya'd all please stand in a line right here..." He nodded to the floor about five feet from where he was standing. "We'll wait another few minutes and see if anyone else shows up."
Three students.... he would like at least another to make it even, working with an odd number wasn't as smooth. On the other hand if it got to big accidents were that more likely to happen, and with what Jake had planned, there was already plenty of opportunities for that. Ah well, best to just wait and see.

A healer, indeed. Yes, this is what Braden and Mischa Amaya wanted their precious little girl to become after her education at Hogwarts. Well they were in for a very unpleasant surprise. After many years of expressing other interests which her parents readily disapproved of, Katheryn was going to do something she wanted to do and all it took was a little push. Said push came by way of a letter she had received just that morning from her parents.
'Katheryn, darling, a dueling club isn't a very lady like thing to be involved with. We're your parents we know what is best for you dear so pleases desist of this idea of yours --'
and the letter went on and on about how they disapproved of her plans to be involved in the dueling club that was being run by one of the Aurors that were currently stationed at the school. Kat hadn't bothered to finish the letter before crumpling it and depositing it in the nearest rubbish bin on her way out of the Great Hall that morning. It was a tribute to the start of what would decidedly be her year. Miss Amaya had her own aspirations and this being her final year as a Hogwarts Student, she was going to graduate on her own terms, following her own goals.
The rest of the day had gone in the usual manner. Classes and the usual assignments, a little tougher, a little more involved. Kat got through them in top form and before she knew it the afternoon of the first club meeting was upon her. Kat made a quick trip to the Ravenclaw dormitories to drop off her belongings and freshen up with ample time to make it to the meeting. Not having to wear her robes outside of classes, the pretty brunette had changed out of her standard uniform garb and opted for something more practical and most definitely not involving skirts or dresses perhaps to be more practical or perhaps in an act of rebelliousness (though it wouldn't be witnessed by her parents).
Kat wore medium stonewashed skinny jeans, a puff sleeve tee, and her comfortable ballet flats. Her long brunette hair was pulled back into a tasteful ponytail. Kat gave herself a final glance in the mirror before picking up her wand on her way out. Some corridors, and shortcuts later, Katheryn arrived at the dueling club meeting. Her bright eyes scanned the small group and each of the paintings on the wall observantly as she entered the study hall before crossing the room to join the line that the students seem to have assembled a few feet away from Mr. Harrison. She nodded to the instructor as she passed, then her gaze seemed to pause momentarily on Jacob Ravelli before she turned her attention and smile on Kalista, the one person she recognized from her own house.
The smile faded slowly as she noticed the younger Ravenclaw's dour mood, something that was so uncommon for the usually chipper girl. She looked like she needed someone to talk to that could cheer her up. Kat made a mental note to try and see if there was something she could do for her fellow Ravenclaw later at a more opportune time for the both of them -- on their way out of the club meeting perhaps.
"Hi Kali," the older girl greeted smiling warmly once again at raven-haired fashionista.

Summer had been pretty chipper for the Lovegood girl. Lana had her typical ‘stay at home’ summer with the family. Spending the days wafting around the house, the town, watching muggle television and some old shows, all that and more was practically the girl’s agenda and schedule over the dreary hot days. With the school year back in tow, everything would go back to the regular state of sanity. Then again, Lana had seen Kali and was feeling so bad for the girl (yet she really had no idea why the girl was so not-bubbly). It wasn’t like Kalista at all to be this way. She was the energizer bunny in the group and the bubbly incarnate of the group. Kalista defined the word in a whole – and now, she was just being so down.
So, Lana, pulling up her sleeves in an attempt to be a little Miss Nancy Drew, decided to make Kali put a smile on. Unfortunately, McDonald’s wasn’t a Wizarding restaurant, nor was it anywhere near Hogwarts. Lana had been watching Kalista the week they returned; while she wasn’t trying to make Kalista all happy, she’d be watching what the girl was up to when she was solo. The first and only clue turned out to be the Defense Association club thingamajig plastered on the Ravenclaw common room bulletin board. Lana remembered Prof. Mignonette making a comment about one of the aurors hosting a club based for aspiring aurors. So, was Kalista seeking some guidance towards the Auror career? Was she hiding whatever stress she was going through with this club? Or was Lana Lovegood completely on the wrong track?
Alas, time would tell.
Lana Lovegood took a picture of the poster so she wouldn’t have to keep running back to the bulletin board if she forgot any information. It was being held at Study Hall. Lana prepared, dressing up in a simple purple long sleeve with a yellow-and-purple striped t-shirt atop it, along with dark navy jeans, and trainers. The blonde tucked her wand behind her right ear; she checked herself in the mirror one last time and recited the details in her head. A toothy smile later and she was skipping down the hall towards the Study Hall. Now to join her friend – hopefully she could pull off being an aspiring auror, right?
Walking into the room, Lana Lovegood noticed the change to the room. It was a lot emptier, and already filled with just a couple of students. The auror was at the end of the room, alongside a pretty black cat (she’d have to bring Mel, her tabby, next time and see if they’d be friends!). Right behind the auror, however, was a grand photo of him and the cat – wasn’t that, well, kind of being too narcissistic of him? Anyway, Kalista was already there. Along with the dead bubbly girl were the following: Kathern Amaya, or KitKat as she once called her, she was a pretty cool seventh year; the funny troublesome Helen, or Helena, …. Halibot? Either way, she was pretty nifty; and last, Manuela Ravioli’s older brother, who was called … Peyton? Pedro? Oh wait no, it was Joshua! That’s right, Joshua Ravioli.
“Hello everyone!” she said, waving at them all and walking over to the line, a chipper mood upon the girl.

Dympna arrived after the influx of students looking rather put off. Then again, when did she ever look put on? Was put on even an expression? Whether or not it was, she rarely expressed it on her cute little face. Instead it was always scrunched up into a scowl or glare or something equally as negative. The reason for it being thus this time that she'd been forced to either come to this ridiculous club meeting or relinquish her power as a Prefect. And any power Dympna got her pretty little fingers on, she clung to with a surprisingly strong death grip. She wasn't about to give up the badge that she'd been given. Besides, there were upsides to the class. She just hadn't discovered them yet. With this class, she could refine her violent nature so that her attacks would become more effective. Of course, Evan's mum had had other intentions when assigning her to this club. Mainly just making sure that someone that who was strong enough and qualified enough could keep an eye on her son's "troubled" best friend.
It was probably because she was Evan Braley's best friend that she was even named Prefect in the first place. And perhaps because Draco Malfoy though it might be funny to see one of his most vicious students unleashed on the school population with a modicum of power at her disposal. But whatever reason she was given the damned badge, she was going to keep it or hurt whoever tried to take it from her. Unless it was Evan's mum. The woman wasn't so bad, despite the fact that she was the Headmistress.
When she finally stepped into the room, Jake Harrison was asking everyone to stand in a line in a certain spot in the room. Her dark brows furrowed, nearly meeting as she glared at the cat that always seemed to trail the Auror and was aptly, if not creatively named Shadow. She didn't like that cat. Then again, she liked very few cats. Kittens were alright...and large cats. But the little ones were just annoying. Cody's Duchess was annoying because she was so pampered and spoiled. There was one or two cats that she could tolerate, though she wasn't sure who owned them. She'd decided a while back that any cat that liked her would have to be alright because as much as she didn't like the creatures, they didn't like her. They weren't like the horses that she helped train at her uncles ranch. They almost reacted to her like they would a huge dog that was out to get them. Hissing and arching their backs before darting off. There was one she was certain belonged to a Slytherin that refused to leave her alone whenever it spotted her, and she'd grown almost fond of it.
Stubbornly standing by the door, Dympna folded her arms over her chest and waited to be noticed. Though she was short, it was hard not to notice her.

By the time Bray had finished his brief meeting with the head he was already pretty late for the club meeting. When the owls came around the houses during the summer about the clubs formation Bray was pretty interested. A little curve in his education can’t really do him harm.
Bray turned up about 5 minutes later with a late breath of desperation escaping his lips. His eyes glanced across the room with a very cheesy smirk escaping his lips to great the very few that really cared he was a little past the meeting time.
As he was walked round the edges of the hall he glanced at a few faces from the room. Few ravenclaws had turned up which was pretty typical as they all “loved” to learn to the point it made him sick.
He glanced and found the only two slytherin stood to one side and Bray walked over and stood near. Crossing his arms he moved his head towards them and with a mutter towards the two he simply said, “Have I missed much?” hoping that one would up date him.
His eyes glanced towards the tutor in front of the class. The one thing he didn’t like that idea of is all the tutors knew about his condition. And deep down he hoped that he wouldn’t get used as some defence practice as a live specimen or something. Werewolf attacks had doubled over summer and people were starting to get cautious
He sighed deeply brushing his hands through his wild, untamed hair and a smirked played on his face. “so what’s the plan?” he said to the Jake before he finished his sentence with, “urgh… yeah sorry I was late and stuff.”

Jake waited until the line was more or less assembled, with exception of some uppity little girl in the doorway before starting. He drew his wand and pointed it at the girl, lifting her into the air and plopping her down in her spot in the line. He then put a full-body bind curse on her and sheathed his wand.
"The next time I give you an order in this room, I expect it to be obeyed girly."
He looked around at the few assembled students and sighed. He gave Shadow a nudge with his foot and the small feline jumped down from the platform, walked to the door and closed it. Jake nodded and she began walking around the line of the assembled students.
"That cat is my assisstant, her name is Shadow. My name, is unimportant. You will address me as sir. I want to make this very, very clear. I am not a teacher. This is not a normal class. When I tell you to do something, it had better get done. Should you disobey me, or otherwise get yourself in trouble while here, you will not be assigned a detention. You will face me."
He let that linger in the air for a moment before continuing.
"I'm sure you are all wondering what it is you will be learning here. In light of the upswing in werewolf activity, and the ever present threat of some new dark wizard, you will be learning extra ways to defend yourself. This will go beyond the magical. In addition to some useful spells and wand technique, I'll be teaching you strategy and some basic hand-to-hand combat. For those of you I deem responible enough, i might even instruct you on how to become an animagus."
Shadow continued to cirlce and Jake took another took a breath.
"Now a warning, to all of you. If I hear that the skills I am teaching you are being used to bully or torment another student, then I won't give you the chance to explain yourself. I will deal with you in my own fashion. And trust me, it will hurt."
He gave each student a glare to emphasize his words before continuing.
"Now, Shadow will pair up up and we will go from there."
He then watched and wrote down on a bit of parchment the pairs:

At the beginning of the year Leon had been called to the headmistresses office for a little "meeting". It had been decided that an american auror from the states would be conducting a dueling club or defense club, both words were thrown around the room, in addition to his duties of supervising security. They had needed for a teacher to spounsor the club and act as supervisor to the club. Leon had been asked since he was still fresh from field work as an auror only resigning from the post in the Ministry to take up the recently open Charm's professor position at the school. Dispite the fact that Leon should be supervising Jake, it went without saying that Jake was really running the show, and Leon was just around to keep him from gettingt carried away with it all, although Leon doubted there would be much he could do to stop the Yankee if he did decide to take things alittle to far with what he was teaching the students, Leon had managed to convince Jake that all spells that could seriously cause injury would be left until later meetings and would only be taught to those that showed they were capible of showing self restraint and not preforming such spells on other students as a means of bulling them. Aside from that which took much talking back and forth to get him to aggree, Jake was pretty much in control and Leon his assistant.
The morning of the first meeting of said club Leon dressed rather comfortibly wearing a woren out faded red shirt with a dead black sparrow on its front, a pair of loose legged faded black jeans and black sneakers. He was in hurry to arrive since althought Jake and himself had learned to get along better since first meeting, Jake and Leon still ended up getting into it and boardline wanting to have a go at each other. Admitting Leon had done his research on Jake and knew that he was very unequiped to actually be at par with the american but had the comforting thought that he could atleast leave Jake hurting before he went down.
Leon entered the hall, and stopped at the door. The picture of Jake and Shadow severally disturbing him. And he walked in on the part where he just introduced Shadow as his assistant. Obviously annoyed at Jake.
"You will be referring him to him as sir, but so everyone is clear his name is Jake Harrison, and you are to call him Proffessor since he will be conducting the class."
He pulled out his wand, pointed it at Jake. Everyone in the room rushing to the walls.
"And what was that about shadow being your assistant? Aren't you forgetting someone, who actually endorsed this club and futhermore who has been overseeing that you don't teach this kids material that they could severally hurt themselves or others will?"
At this point Leon lunged forward twirlling his want as a blue spell fired from the tip of his wand straight at Jake. And the Dueling Club was kicked off with a duel between the 2 intructors.

Bray was just in motion of running his hand through his hair as the names on the list were slowly read out. Bray like normal had drifted in a daze as his eyes soft and glazed as he stared at the ceiling and the dark storm clouds forming.
It wasn’t long before her was snapped out of his dazed by his name that was fired at him. His heart sank as he came to realised he had been paired up with the tutor. A small snarl escaped his lips as he saw the rest of the student’s pair up and he shuffled over to the tutor scowl across his face.
It was his own tough luck to be honest. He was stupid enough to take a detour to grab a drink and a quick chocolate frog that made him late yet so satisfied. He was slightly suspicious at the reason why he was picked over the rest of the students as he eyed the tutor with a simple scowl.
It was that point when Professor Leon came mouthing through the door clearly stamping his foot of authority. Words were past and the professor’s voice quietened immensely before wand was aimed across the room.
Bray dived out of the way just in time to see a pull light skim his head. As he got up brushing himself down he grumbled under his breath moving next to the wall with the rest. Briefly glancing past the tutor hoping someone else would come and rescue him from Jakes wrath. Though deep down he knew he had the perfect specimen to demonstrate with and his heart sank more. There was no escaping this one.

Leon de los Santos. The man was a hot-head, and quite honestly Jake was going to have some words with Fia about him being appointed sponsor of the class. He had figured the kid would make some dramatic entrance like this. It wasn't that Jake didn't like him, far from it, he actually thought he was a decent enough man. But... he just annoyed Jake to no end, always coaking him towards a fight. But then, Jake was a bit thick-headed himself. Ah well. If a fight is what he wanted, a fight would be what he got. This would be a wonderful chance to show the kids what they could learn by the end of the year.
Without even looking at him Jake was there one minute and gone the next. He crouched low, avoiding the spell and pulling free his wand in one swift motion. He stood again, turning at the same time so that once he was standing straight he was looking directly at Leon. His wand wasn't raised, he held it at his side in the ready position, but he wasn't ready to fight.
"Well if ya like boy, I could have Shadow up here fighting you, winner gets the job. But then, students might not take you seriously if you lost to a house cat."
He wasn't ready to fight him yet, he wanted to taunt him, get him good and angry. It would a talent of Jake's, to be able to taunt his foes into a rage so that they would make mistakes, give him an opening, and thats when he would take them down. Hard. Now he didn't want to put Leon on the hospital for an extended period of time, but giving the boy a few bruises and scratches might teach him something: you do not mess with the American lightly.
"Then again I'm not entirely sure I could get Shadow to fight you. See, she only fights people who are worth her time, and well, I'm sorry to tell ya you just don't make the cut boy."

Dammit, dammit, dammit.
The word repeated in his mind, growing more insistent with each passing moment. Kiernan was late. Very late, in fact. And he wasn't all that positive that this Jake Harrison guy teaching this duelling club thing would let him join the lesson. He'd overslept, a consequence of the late night reading up on all the spells he could think of for today, and now he was late.
Kiernan sprinted down the stairs, on his way to the classroom where the meeting was supposedly being held. The rubber soles of his All-Stars making scuffling noises on the stone floor. His heart was pounding with exertion, a dribble of sweat forming in his forehead and sliding down his nose. He'd run all the way from Gryffindor Tower, practically.
When he had awoke to find that he had overslept, he'd lept out of bed, pulled on enough clothing to be decent, as well as his shoes, and was out the door. He hadn't even paused to comb his hair into reasonable order. No doubt it was sticking straight out in places.
He pushed open the door to the classroom, blowing a cooling breath upwards at his face as he did so. Stepping into the room, he saw that all the students had already been paired off while two men stood watching them, one he recognized as a professor. The other must be the Harrison bloke. Self-consciously, he ran a hand through his untidy hair, trying to tame it a bit.
"Sorry," he muttered, shoving his hands in his jeans pockets. He looked at the men, a chagrined expression on his face. "I know I'm late and all that, but can I still join in?"

"Of course you may, Mr. Robinson." a feminine voice spoke from behind the boy as he stood just inside the doorway of the large study hall.
The soft, Scottish accented voice belonged to none other than the Headmistress Fia Braley herself, in all of her impressive 5'10 stature. Today, the hair color of choice was most decidedly vibrant red, framing her face and shoulders in curls to suit the metamorphmagus' current mood. It also seemed that the witch never wore wizard's robes as per usual she sported a more sophisticated look of a green ruffle-front charmeuse blouse , black modern fit Marilyn pants, and a pair of black leather pumps, never failing to look absolutely impeccable.
There was a good reason of course, for her presence this day in the study hall. Despite having set the new Charms Teacher to sponsor and 'supervise' the dueling club's activities she had decided that she would supervise the first meeting herself for her own peace of mind. Fia was not a foolish woman in the least and she knew how hot headed young men, De Los Santos' age could be. Though she found him to be a capable professor, she was sure that the younger man would butt heads with the seasoned American. Her piercing blue gaze swept across the room taking in the artwork and the few students that seemed to be paired up except for Bray Thomas. They were all standing aside watching their teacher and instructor whom were having a very interesting conversation to say the least.
"You can join Mr. Thomas over there." Fia instructed Kiernan before she proceeded to walk toward the back of the room.
Finding a opportune spot where she had a good view of the entire hall, Fia conjured a chair and promptly sat down. Her hands were neatly folded on her lap, legs crossed at the ankle in a very lady-like and well mannered sort of way that was very much Fia's.
"Please, do carry on. Forgive the interruption." she added politely in an attempt to assuage the brief interlude.

Great, he was late. Why did he have to oversleep that night? It’s not like he had dreamt about Rebecca that night – that was two nights ago! There was nothing to delay him but stupid homework – which he could’ve done the previous nights like Rebecca and James had told him to. He had been so excited that there was a Defense Association starting up at Hogwarts this year. Now he was going to mess all that up – most likely the guy teaching them would be some ass about time and would immediately judge Jonathan as a late troublemaker and wrongdoer. Which wasn’t the case at all; the boy was just a lower achieving procrastinator who needed to get his act together this year more so than ever before.
Jonathan didn’t know much about the Harrison guy except that he was an American auror shipped over here. The boy had rushed into the bathroom, taken a split second shower followed with the fastest record in clothes changing before darting out towards the room. He didn’t even get to enjoy breakfast – who knows how long this DA thing would last. Speaking of DA, why were they alluding to Dumbledore’s Army? Was it purposely done or coincidentally done? He shrugged those thoughts from his head as he ran over to the Defense Association room. Those were things Rebecca would most likely be thinking of. He needed to stop over dramatizing the day. It’s not like he’d be the only one late – Merlin please.
Reaching the Study Hall, Jonathan slowed down his pace after seeing the figure of the headmistress walk into the room. Great, now she’d see him late as well – not great. He’d never really gotten into much trouble with the woman, minus that one time a few years ago when him and James decided to have some fun with the Slytherins. They both grew up after that, but the adults never let those things go. The brown mopped boy walked in silently after the woman, standing awkwardly by the door as the American auror in front of them placed people into pairs.
Just his luck, Jonathan was the unfortunate odd number in the room. If that Ravenclaw Evertree kid hadn’t walked in pristinely before the Headmistress, Jonathan would at least be paired up. If someone didn’t show up before the practice began, Jonathan would be dreadfully paired up with the auror. Not that Jonathan feared getting beat by the man – he’d admit that he would be defeated, experience wise – but he’d be the guinea pig in the experiment. Unless he somehow became super powerful in the arts, Jonathan’s arse was going to be handed to him that day.
Jonathan stood a few feet into the room from the doorway, standing and feeling awkward as everyone paired up minus him. His eyes darted from the three adults figures in the room, waiting anxiously to be placed somewhere.

Leon made a minor note that the headmistress had decided to grace them with an appearance. But his eyes never left Jake's as he started to goad him. Trying to work his way under the young man's skin with his barbed words. Leon had to admit his anger was starting to break free but he suppressed it. He knew what Jake was doing, by provoking him. When one is angry, one tends to make mistakes. Mistakes that sometimes can be very fatal since certain things can be over looked, or one could become very reckless and taking chances that in the end won't pay off. It was one trick he was not going to fall for.
"I dunno Jake, maybe it would be a good idea to have Shadow fight me. At least she still has both use of her eyes. I wouldn't want to fight a cripple who is trying to hold on to a prime that had long since faded. But lets cut the chase old man, are you planning on talking me into submission? Or are you waiting for your pills to kick in? Sorry vejo, but I really think we should hurry this up, time is ticking and these kids can't be kept waiting all day for their senile instructor to show his stuff."
With those words Leon was wielding his wand like one would use a sword, jabbing it into the air, sending spell after spell at Jake while avoiding or countering the spells that where coming his way as best he could. More than once he had to launch a piece of furniture between himself and Jake to prevent the spell from causing him injury. Already he had ruin 3 sets of chairs that had the seats blown clean off of them, and a table that looked like a giant had tapped danced on it.
Leon was starting to get a grasp of how under experience he was when compared to Jake. He was already laboring from the strain that these spells were taking on him, and began to wonder if some of those spells might have some killing intent in them. His stamina was slowly being ebbed away with each spell he casted against Jake, and he needed to find a way to end this.
One idea came to mind, and it was really something he couldn't really think through too much since he would have to rely on instincts than anything else, as he moved forward toward Jake this time allow for their spells to collide sometimes causing some nice big explosions, be he kept moving toward Jake. Not in a direct line, that would be too obvious, but rather he would weave until he came within arms reach of Jake, and quickly ducked under Jakes spell, jabbed his wand upward casting a stun spell with his left as his right came in from the side, its intended target the side of Jake's head.

Jake didn't move. Really. He saw the two new students and the headmistress enter and waved away the apologies of the two boys. As for Fia, well, he was sorry to say that he was going to have to contradict her. Jake knew a werewolf when he saw one, having spent most of his life friends with one and hunting rogues. He had plans for training Bray. He was about to say something to Fia when Leon started talking. When he made the comment about Jake's vision, the American couldn't help but smirk. He just rolled his eyes at the rest of the comments, then heaved a sigh as the man began the fight.
Jake had years of fighting against some of the toughest dark wizards and witches out there, and this little punk was hardly pushing his abilities. Leon was fast, Jake was faster. His wand was a dark brown blur as deflected and shot off his own spells. In fact, Jake looked rather bored. There had been a couple times when Leon almost got him, but Jake recovered. Maybe this guy wasn't as bad as Jake thought. One spell even came close to tearing flannel. That just wasn't cool. Then Leon started getting closer. He watched him carefully and when Leon tried the stun and punch combo Jake just leaned back out the way of both and when he came forward again, the man was no longer there. In his place was an eight foot tall grizzly bear staring Leon in the face. In a few swift motions, one paw knocked the wand from his hand and the other backhanded him, sending him flying halfway across the room. Leon flying through the air was accompanied by a loud roar. When it came to an end Jake had returned to his human form and his wand was once again sheathed.
"Thanks for trying to help Fia, but since those two were late they can be partners, I'll stick with working with Bray."
Jake spoke as if the fight hadn't even occured. This was Jake's club, hadn't even really been his idea, his only stipulation was that the powers that be didn't try to interfere to much. In return, Jake agreed not to take it to far. And so, without waiting for and answer from the headmistress, Jake returned to addressing the kids. Shadow lept up onto the platform and picked up Leon's wand in her mouth and sitting down next to Jake.
"Now then, I want all of you to get to know your partners well. This will act as an ongoing lesson. You must know your enemy well, as well if not better then you know yourself. At the end of the year you'll be using the various abilities I teach you to duel in front of the whole class. The better you know your partner, the longer the duel will go, and the higher the score you'll get."
He finished and looked over at Thomas.
"As for you, I've got something different in mind for you."
And he returned to the class in general.
"Now then, can anyone here tell me what all of the pictures, minus the one behind me, have in common?"

As the two started to dual the boy smirked in slight amusement. The professor was trying is hardest to get the upper hand on the American and he was just not letting down. To be honest it was at that point that Bray suddenly had a bit of respect for the man. He had balls and he deserved it. Though the thought of working with him didn’t please him any more, he did hope this battle would continue to the end of the class. That way he would make sure he was on time the next one.
It was at that point when the Headmistress and stormed into the room. As his head spun to see what’s going on another boy walked through the door. This time a Gryffindor and as much of a fluster as him, and before the headmistress spoke he knew deep down that he was going to be paired with him.
Though he was kind of relieved to escape whatever Jake had planned for the odd one out and he just nodded simply to the boy across the room before crossing his arms across his check and head cocked to one side and gave a small sigh.
Then late comer number two arrived even more flustered through the door and Bray smirked as he believed that the boy was the next victim of Jakes. Though what happened next made the simple smirk drop from him and into a glare that was shot across the room at Jake.
The fact the guy still wanted to work with him made him want to smack his head against the wall. Maybe the tutor felt putting a Slytherin and a Gryffindor together was not the best idea and there would be more trouble than was needed but he never felt that Jake was the person to really care about this.
As he said he had different plans for the boy his heart just sank. Though he placed his best confusing face he could to try and differ the burning looks of the other students in the room that clearly wondered what made Bray so special to be trained differently. Or that was what his imagination led him to believe. He just continued back to the American rolling his eyes as he did so and under a low tone muttered, “Is there any reason I have been pick on?”

"That all of them didn't underestimate their opponent, like you just did."
Suddently there was a growl, and Jake had been grabbed by the neck of his coat, by a very large great wolf that tore the back of his jacket to shreds, and with a shake of his head, released Jake sending him rolling to a side. And then once again Leon stood where Jake had stood moments before, but was staring down Jake. He had been underestamated, and Leon knew it. It was thought because of his young age, and less battle experiance that the seasoned Jake that he was less of a wizard, and a weaklink, and that really had set his blood to boil although he tried to keep it at a simmer, and keep his voice low and even.
"I hope your students don't make that same mistake, otherwise they would have been very poor taught."
Leon started to walk away feeling all the pain his body. He had gotten swatted away by a bear, and prior to that had engaged in a very tiring exchange of spells. He wanted to sleep. But he did pause by Fia, spoke to her in a very low tone, trying take the edge from is voice as best as he could. She was his employer and she was definatly not someone he wanted to get tangled up with.
"Find a new sponsor for this club Headmistress, because I want nothing more to do with that man."
He had opened the door, and slammed it shut behind him.
OOC:Sorry but like I said...I was extremely peeved by the way things turned out and how Leon was underestamated.
